Does Ballet Body Really Work?

Rate this post

Ballet Body is a workout program that says you can get a ballet dancer’s body by following the exercises outlined in the program. If you admire the flexibility and strength exhibited by belly dancers you probably I have a lot of interest in this. But how well does it really work?

Overview
Ballet dancers work hard for their bodies, often treating it more like a full time job rather than a part time hobby. There are several different exercise systems out there that promise potential users the same benefits and looks by simply doing what is recommended by the instructors.

The Claim
The makers of Ballet Body claim that Jennifer Galardi has designed a routine that keeps things fun and interesting, while blending different forms of exercise into one comprehensive training regimen. They say you’ll get a long, lean, dancer’s body by following this, and by several accounts this is a desirable figure to have, not only for aesthetics but also for going about daily life. You should be lighter, tighter, and more balanced.

The Hype
The feedback on this has been very positive, so even though it doesn’t have a major ad campaign on TV backing it, it’s still managing to carve out its niche of fans. At the same time there is some inherent hype built in to any fitness product, because it is selling users on the dream of having a particular body, and along with it the perceived lifestyle that goes along with it.

The Cost
The cost of Ballet Body is less than $15 on Amazon and includes the DVDs you’ll need to partake in the program. From there it’s a matter of pressing play and you’ll be on your way. When you compare this to some of the extensive DVD programs on the market going for well over $100, it’s clear to see that cost is not a limiting factor here, and just about anyone that wants to start this up should be able to.

The Commitment
Just like with any workout or excercise program, the best most stable results come from regularly partaking in it. If you can’t devote the time that it requires, no matter how little, you won’t get to see the best results from your efforts. It’s not so much a requirement that you work out a lot in one day, but you should instead try to work out as regularly as possible. It is the cumulative effect of making better choices each day over the long run than it is a matter of going hard out on one day here and there.

If you really want a ballet dancer’s body you should commit to eating healthy foods that give you energy so that you’ll be mimicking more closely their lifestyle. Continuing to eat the Standard American Diet while doing this program will only yield spotty results, if any.

Evaluation
The response that the Ballet Body program was getting was what eventually led us to look further into it and see what all of the fuss was about. It’s nice that they’ve managed to fit everything onto one disc, so you don’t have to fumble with multiple discs, or pay extra for the extra production costs. The total time of the workouts is still at an hour, so you’re getting the variety you need to keep your body guessing, but also workouts that you can fit into your busy day without having the excuse of not having enough time.

Even though the program is pushing towards 4 years since its release, the exercises it shows are pretty timeless, so you don’t have to worry about them going out of style or being trumped by the latest fitness craze. Ballet dancers have been doing pretty much the same thing for several years now, which means the foundation behind this is solid, and not something you will outgrow in a few years.

Final Ballet Body Review

The Ballet Body workout is getting our Thumbs Up review, and by all metrics it should provide you with results if you stick to it and see it through for several weeks. What’s nice about it is that it’s not just aiming to improve your appearance, but also the functionality of your body. There is plenty of attention given to flexibility and feeling better, so this will yield positive results not only in the way you look, but in your overall well-being.

Our Recommendation
If you’ve been looking for a program that blends the best of pilates, yoga, and the exercises that ballet dancers do to get and stay in shape, this may be for you. It may not be a miracle solution, but nothing out there is, and anything you try is going to require your direct involvement and a shift from bad habits to better habits.

What do you think? Does Ballet Body work or not?

  • I love trying new workouts and have been a huge fan of the results and benefits of ballet workouts. The cost for this DVD is incredibly affordable and easily one of the cheapest I have seen recently. I agree with the review about the DVD being just a little dated. I would probably prefer having a DVD that is more modern because I will be more likely to stick with it. But watching the video shows me that the workout themselves are not that dated. As long as I don't feel like Jane Fonda, I think I will give it a try.
