Does the HAAN Steam Mop Really Work?

Rate this post

If you’re considering a Haan Steam Mop you’ll have a large assortment of models to choose from. Each one has its own unique features depending on what your main goal is. Their approach is pretty interesting, seeing how most companies out there try to load up just one mop with as many features as possible in order to get you to buy. It seems that the theory here is if you just get one or two functions right, you don’t need any other bells and whistles. So let’s see if their methodology pays off or not.

Overview
In this day and age it’s all about clean, clean, clean. It seems that no matter how clean you get your floors, they could always be a little bit cleaner. When you’re talking about cleaning and sanitizing, you basically have only a few options. There are cleaning products out there that use chemicals to sanitize, killing 99.9% of bacteria, but then you have to worry if the chemicals themselves are just as bad for you as the bacteria. When you consider that steam provides just as much of a sanitizing effect as the leading cleaning products, without introducing anything harmful into the environment, it makes a pretty strong case for itself.

The Claim
They say that a Haan Steam Mop not only cleans but also sanitizes wherever you use it. Each of their different models makes different claims depending on which features it’s equipped with. For example, the Swift model focuses on being quick to use, and put away. The Agile model boasts about its maneuverability, while the Select model claims that it makes it easy to change between different levels of steam, allowing you to move between different floor types.

The Hype
Haan is quickly building a name for itself in the cleaning product industry. They have a reputation for making high quality steam cleaning mops and other steam-based products. When you are shopping for a steam cleaner you want to go with a company that has loads of experience, and not one that has popped up and just started offering their first steam cleaning solution. Creating a steam cleaner is not easy, because it involves heating up the water so hot, a lot of the elements involved need to be able to withstand the heat. Start up companies have a knack for using cheap materials that end up breaking down after only a few uses.

The Cost
Haan Steam Mop range in price from $90 for the Classic model, to $180 for their Complete model. The prices range anywhere in between for the other mops in their lineup, and you can expect to pay more depending on how many features a certain one has.

The Commitment
When you make the switch over to using steam to clean your house instead of conventional cleaning methods, you are committing to a little bit of a learning curve as far as how to properly use a steam cleaner. A lot of people assume that it is basically the same as cleaning with an ordinary mop, but you’ll want to be sure to follow the directions, and only clean surfaces that are conducive to using steam.

Evaluation
Most reviews of the Haan Steam Mop collection are positive, and they are recommended by most people that try it. Much of the negative feedback they receive is mostly about steam mops in general, not necessarily about Haan as a brand. Some people just don’t like the results they get when they steam clean, and have a misperception about what sort of clean they’re going to get with a mop like this. They complain about things that happen with any steam mop you’re going to buy, like running out of water, and not being able to clean up every stain you attempt with it.

An Interesting Concept
What they’ve basically done here is split up a dozen features and put them on a dozen different mops. They are probably following the advice of “do one thing and do it better than everyone else”. Some steam mops try to be all things, and are loaded with so many features, half of which you don’t even need. With a Haan you get to drill down to the features that you really want, and therefore you’re not paying extra for a bunch of functions that you won’t even use.

Final Haan Steam Mop Review

Getting a Haan Steam Mop is

not a bad idea, and they get a Thumbs Up across the board as a solid buy. You won’t be disappointed with a Haan purchase, but you should definitely consider all your different options before making a decision. It’s not like your whole world will come crashing down if you don’t pick the right steam mop, but if you pick the right one you won’t have to go through this selection process again for a long time.

Our Recommendation
The Haan theory of breaking up features into different models would only work if there were no mops out there that combined all the functions you’d want into one mop. However, the Shark Steam Pocket Mop does just that, and at a price that is less than the Complete model offered by Haan. It’s also got a much more versatile package, and is still in the form of a sweeper, and not a cannister like the Complete. It’d be the one we’d get if we only wanted to buy one steam mop.
