Does Paint It Black Tanning Lotion Really Work?

Rate this post

Can Paint It Black help make using a tanning bed healthier? It is a good idea to opt for tanning lotions rather than laying out in the sun, or using tanning beds alone. It is a less dangerous way to get the color that you want without putting your body through the harmful effects of these two methods. But tanning lotions are notorious for being messy, giving an unnatural orange glow, and overall just not living up to their promises.

Overview
Millennium Tanning has carved a name out for itself in the tanning lotion niche. With super sleek packaging, and catchy names for their products it is easy to see why they have become so popular. But just because something looks good on the outside, does not mean what is on the inside works. Let’s take a look at the kind of quality you can expect from one of their brands called Paint It Black.

The Claim
Paint It Black says that you can get silky smooth skin from its extreme blend that uses silicon emulsifiers. They also say that the darkness that you will experience is “stunning”. There are many outrageous claims being made here, but they do say that the product acts as an accelerator, bronzer, skin firmer, and that the moisturizing effects of the lotion last all day.

The Hype
When a product works it is only natural that it will develop a buzz surrounding it. One byproduct of the social media frenzy going on is that people talk more about the products that they love, and also hate. A lot of people have stated quite clearly that Paint It Black works and is a good buy.

The Cost
Although some users have complained about the cost of Paint It Black, we found it to be quite reasonable for the job that it does. You can buy the 50X bronzer at Amazon for under $14, and if you buy 2 bottles they ship free with the super saver shipping. It may be on the higher side of how much self-tanning bronzers go for, but you get what you pay for, as they say.

The Commitment
You have to be committed to having tanned skin because Paint It Black is not meant to give results that last for the long-term. This makes it great for one-time events like a big date, homecoming, or a wedding, but if you are looking for more long-term results there are other products that are better suited for a better price.

With its ability to give 50 times darker results, you should be able to go from a light skin tone to a darker tone thereby reducing the need to sunbathe or go to a tanning salon, which might actually reduce your commitment level to having a tan.

Evaluation
It is natural for a product of this kind to receive a mixed bag of user feedback. With so many different skin tones and so many different levels of familiarity with skin tanning lotions there is no way that 10 out of 10 people will agree as to its effectiveness. Not only are there fair-skinned people, and dark-skinned people, but there are also varying degrees of how well people take care of their skin. This will affect how well the lotion is absorbed into the skin.

Another thing to keep in mind is user error. Some people have been using tanning lotions for years. Other people are new to the whole experience. This means that if everything else is equal as far skin tone and the health of the skin, the previous history will affect how each user perceives the results.

For example, a user with more experience will be able to set their expectations at the right level while someone new to the game might believe that they’ll get a perfect tan from a bottle the first time they use it. Managing your expectations plays a big part in whether or not you will feel that this product works.

After evaluating the data that exists in the form of user feedback, it is clear to us that there is a high probability that this product will work for you if you are familiar with tanning lotions in general. The majority of users have either given it a rave review, a good review, or said that it is just okay. Only a small percentage have said that it is a total waste of money.

Final Paint It Black Review

Due to the overwhelming majority that either liked it or loved it, we have to say that Paint It Black works for most people that try it. No matter how you cut it, it won’t be a waste of money because it contains a lot of good things for your skin, and the smell is fantastic. If nothing else you can just use it as a base for a different bronzer since it makes your skin feel so smooth and smells so great.

Most negative reviews can be

disregarded as user error or false expectations from the people that bought it. Also, you have to keep in mind that there is no guarantee that this product will work for you even with a large amount of positive reviews coming in. There is just no way to make that sort of promise. If it doesn’t work for you, it’s okay because there are plenty of other tanning lotions out there.

Our Recommendation
Those with very fair skin might want to pass on this one, but if you are no stranger to tanning this is a great way to reduce the time spent in dangerous tanning beds, and staying in the sun for hours on end to get the right color.

One common complaint from users is that although it says it is a 50 times bronzer it just did not get people dark enough. As far as Millennium Tanning goes it is one of the lightest bronzers may make. So if you want something really dark you should go with one of their other products because they make bronzers that are 100 times, so twice the darkening power as you get with Paint It Black.

What do you think? Does Paint It Black work or not?

  • I have used a lot of Millenium’s tanning products, and I love them all. First of all, they smell amazing-a lot of tanning lotions leave an unpleasant smell on the skin. Second of all, they leave my skin extremely smooth and moisturized, and some of them leave a glimmery sheen on the skin.
I am very fair-skinned, so even with regular trips to the tanning salon, I struggle to develop a tan. I depend on Millenium’s added bronzing agents to give some extra, albeit temporary, “oomph” to my tan. Fair-skinned people like me also tend to freckle when using tanning beds, and the bronzing agents help to even out the skin.

    • Yeah I'm also very fair skinned but unlike you I don't freckle but get burned as if I had been out in the sun. My skin is extremely sensitive so I really have to be careful even when going outside for a short amount of time. It looks like a let down for us who struggle to tan at all. What's worse is having my skin end up smelling horrible. I don't think being tan is worth that much trouble. I think I'll pass on this.
