Overview
After buying a house, buying a car is one of the bigger purchases you’ll probably make in life, and you’ll probably make it more than a few times. Knowing you got the best deal, or finding the car you really wanted is a good feeling. Buyer’s remorse can sink in pretty quickly if you feel you were taken advantage of, or if you find an even better car soon after you finalize your purchase. That’s why it’s a good idea to use all of the tools that you have available to make the best choice.
The Claim
They say that you can search for used cars for sale, find out what the price is for new cars, as well as get quotes from dealers, all from their site. So basically they are just aggregating this information from around the web.
They also say that you can get car reviews, see how cars did in crash tests, and even sell your car using their site. The reviews we looked at weren’t altogether riveting, and didn’t contain a lot of meat, the way you find at places like Edmunds.
The Hype
The hype is that they make it seem like buying a car is a difficult thing to do these days. Maybe before the Internet was around, you just had to take your salesperson’s word about a car, but these days there are plenty of reviews and information available on every car. You can get the Kelly Blue Book value, and see what current and former owners think about a certain car pretty easily. Vehix is just one of several ways to size up autos.
The Cost
It’s free to use Vehix and all of their services. They’ll get a fee from whichever dealership you try and contact, but that won’t factor into the price of the car. That’s just a cost that the dealer absorbs for doing business and getting a new lead.
The Commitment
You don’t have to make too much of a commitment when you use Vehix. Most of the information is readily available for you, and you can read reviews and get tips on whether or not to buy a certain make or model, all for free. When you want to get into more specific details and you’re considering a specific car to buy, they’ll start to require more information from you like a zip code and
Evaluation
So the big question is, what makes Vehix a better choice to find your next car or truck than say eBay Motors, Craigslist, or even a search on YouTube. More and more car dealerships and individual owners are uploading videos of their cars to YouTube.
There’s just not a wow factor to Vehix. The general information they provide, such as a car’s sticker price, and the size of its engine, is the same that is offered by all of their competitors. They don’t seem to be making a real effort at being a Purple Cow or doing things better than everyone else.
As far as the best way to buy a car goes, Vehix doesn’t measure up. We’re giving them a Thumb Sideways because while they don’t provide a stellar car-shopping experience, they do provide a lot of useful information all in the same spot, so you don’t have to go hopping around from site to site trying to find all of the stats and figures for the make and model you’re interested in. As far as using them as the sole source of doing car research and buying, we’d have to advise against it.
Our Recommendation
It’s important to do your due diligence on your next car purchase, so we recommend using Vehix in conjunction with all of the other resources at your disposal. Get reviews, compare prices among the different sites, talk with different dealers, and get a good idea of whether the price you’re paying is fair for the car you’re getting.

Personally I think a service like Vehix can be helpful in certain cases but shouldn’t be the only thing you use or depend on.
Nowadays consumers have so many options. Even our local car dealers have quite a few systems in place for easier shopping. It’s best to weigh out all your options.
I don’t have any experience with Vehix personally but it’s on my radar.
