Does Really Work?

Does it realy work?

Does work? says in their ads that they’ll build a website for you, as well as a Facebook page for free. While this may sound good at first, there are benefits to going on your own, so we sized this up to learning how to do things yourself to see which is better. Find out if we think you should use them for your online efforts.

If you’re a newbie to the game of making websites and bringing traffic to them, it might sound appealing to have someone do it for you. But this is rather shortsighted, and you’ll have to get over your overwhelmed feelings and just start off small and build up your knowledge of what to do to get a site online and looking good. It isn’t as intimidating as it first sounds, and the more you learn, the better you’ll get and the better the results and you won’t be at the mercy of another company in case you want to change things up.

The Claim says that they will create a web page for you and a Facebook page for you, and also help you market them. They say that if you like it you can stay on for a price, and if you don’t like it you’re not obligated to pay. However, everyone knows that you don’t get a free lunch these days, so it obviously costs something, so they should be more up front with what you’re getting and what it costs, even down the road instead of forcing you to call or enter your contact details in order to get the details.

The Hype
The hype comes from this being advertised on TV, therefore reaching out to a niche that would rely on a television ad to guide their online strategy. It would be nice if you could get started with the process online, but they really want you to call their toll free number to get signed up. This is an unusual way to do business online, with most sites allowing you to sign up and pay securely online, and even letting you have a free trial without needing a credit card.

The Cost
The costs of vary depending on how many different services you go with. Their Gorilla Online Marketing service is $77.

The Commitment
The basic premise to this is that you won’t really have to do much in order to have an Internet presence. It’s almost billed as the lazy person’s way to get set up and started off on the right foot. There are definite trade-offs to letting someone else do it, and if you’re a control freak, or you have some design skills, you might want to think about putting the time in the trenches so you can have you site look just the way you want it to.

If you have your own set of skills and put the time in to learn how to do the services that offers, you can do most of it yourself, or find others to do it cheaply. This includes things like designing a website, making a logo, and getting web hosting so people can actually visit your life website. It’s not too hard, and it’s getting easier and easier as we go along.

It seems that their target market are those that would consider themselves not very Internet savvy and want to pay a little more to not have to think about it. But what you’re giving up here is some control over doing it on your own. If you buy your own domain name, get your own hosting, and either use a theme or have someone design your site for you, you control everything and can make changes quickly and scale things up as your site grows.

Final Review

If you don’t want to invest the time it takes to do things on your own, might be a good idea. But if you’re going to make this your livelihood you’d probably be better off learning how to do things yourself, or learning how to outsource things so you have more control and lower costs.

If you just want to keep this a hobby or keep things hands off, this might be a good way to have a company handle it all for you. But you shouldn’t expect this to produce amazing results,

Our Recommendation
You could potentially try out some of their services to get an idea of the kinds of things you can do online, but in all likelihood you would be better off developing your own skills so that you learn once and apply it again and again on different projects and sites. If you own an offline retail business and just want a small brochure style website online and a Facebook page, this should do the trick.

I don’t really have much choice at this point but to hire someone to take care of the technical aspect of my website or what my website will be more precise. You have to pay a lot more if you’re hiring a freelancing professional to do it, so I don’t think going with is such a bad idea. I know I’ll eventually have to learn everything, but for now can get me the much needed web presence quickly.
