Overview
There aren’t too many at-home workout programs that come close to rivaling what Billy Blanks has achieved in the past with his Tae Bo program. He basically invented the market for at-home fitness videos, and became a cultural phenomenon. Everybody was talking about it and trying it, to the point that you were in the minority if you hadn’t tried it. Today there seems to be a new fitness program coming out every week, but back in the day there wasn’t much else that was even competing with Tae Bo. So how does the PT 24/7 program stack up to its present day competitors?
The Claim
Billy Blanks PT 24/7 says that you’ll get double the workout in half the time, and that you’ll start to see results in just seven days. They also say that your results are guaranteed or your money back. They say that you can get results with just 30 minutes a day. This seems to be the average for most fitness programs, splitting the difference between short routines of 20 minutes and longer routines of 40 minutes.
The Hype
The hype for this comes from Billy Blanks being the creator of the vastly popular Tae Bo. They say that Tae Bo sold 100 million videos, which is just incredible. It is a social meme as well, and everyone knows what you’re talking about when you say the name. This is his most recent workout program, and they say that he hasn’t made anything new in 5 years.
The Cost
Billy Blanks PT 24/7 is $80 broken into two equal payments, and at the time of this writing they are including free shipping and handling so that is your total cost. For a fitness DVD program that’s not a bad price, considering it includes what you need, and you don’t have to add on all of the accessories.
The Commitment
With any fitness program, you’ve got to bring it. Billy Blanks is known for being able to motivate people, but you’ve got to be the one to turn the DVD player on and press the play button. They say that gyms make most of their money from people who sign up, but don’t show up. Don’t become a statistic and buy this and then never pop it in and start it up. You don’t have to go nuts with it if you don’t want. Go at your own pace and make sure you start off slow, with a long term marathon mentality instead of a short term, want-it-now mentality.
Evaluation
Billy Blanks PT 24/7 combines many of the techniques in Tae Bo in an updated format. The gloves really make moves like punching more difficult, and you’ll feel it in your shoulders and back. The resistance bands were smart thinking as well, and really add to the feeling like you’re accomplishing something here. Some users have noted that this is not really for those just starting out in the world of fitness, since the pace is pretty quick, and he doesn’t really stop for stragglers. But if you just set your own pace and focus on form at first you should be fine.
How Is This Different Than Tae Bo?
The biggest differences you’ll notice right away is the addition of special gloves, and weight bands so you’re getting some resistance along with a cardio workout. The Tae Bo program did not feature these accessories, and relied
Billy Blanks PT 24/7 is basically Tae Bo 2.0, with some definite upgrades. The gloves and the bands are a welcome addition, seeing how now we know that a workout program that involves resistance as well as cardio is much more effective, and provides a circuit training effect that produces results in a faster time frame.
Our Recommendation
If you’re familiar with the Billy Blanks style of training and motivation, you’ll probably really enjoy this set, and the addition of the gloves and bands makes it pretty effective, without going overboard like some high-intensity training programs out there do.

This is what I know about the difference of working out in a professional workout system as opposed to just doing it. My friend actually hired a personal trainer and he worked out with him 4 days a week, 2 hours a day. Before this he struggled to lose 15lbs and that took him like 5 months, with the trainer he lost an additional 20lbs in only 2 months and he gained so much lean muscle in the process as well. Much of the results you get out of a workout is about the system and just going to the gym and lifting weight is a story of the old days.
