Overview
If you’ve always wished there was some way to lie in your bed completely flat on your back but still see the TV instead of the ceiling, this is may work for you, but you have to consider what it would really be like to use these. It seems that you would still have to contort a bit, or change your position in bed just to get a clear shot of the TV.
The Claim
The makers of EZ Frames have taken an idea that has been used by private detectives and law enforcement officers to secretly or safely see around corners, and have applied it to a consumer product designed to allow you to see what’s in front of you without having to have your head propped up to do so.
The Hype
The hype comes from this product being on the market for awhile now under a few different names. These glasses are not really remarkable in that they are just frames with an angled mirror on them, so no Nobel Peace prizes awarded for this invention, but in some instances it may actually come in handy.
The Cost
You get 2 pair of EZ Frames for $24. $14 of that $24 is shipping costs for each pair. With lightweight plastic glasses like these there’s just no way it costs $14 to ship them, and they’re cheaply made so you know that the manufacturer is making a profit just on the shipping costs, which are non-refundable in the case of a return. That means that you stand to be out $14 plus return shipping if you don’t like these, and you’d only get $10 credited back to your account in the event that you return them within the 30 day window.
The Commitment
You’ll have to get into a position that allows for these glasses to work properly. For arts and crafts it might be pretty easy because you could hold the items in your lap and keep your head looking forward in order to do them. The same goes for a book, you can rest it in your lap and not get neck strain from having to look down all the time.
Evaluation
For these glasses to be effective you’d have to be completely on your back with your head unsupported. This is the only way you’d have an unobstructed view of anything. Propping your head on a pillow would give you a view of your feet or legs. You’ll notice that the mirrors on these glasses do not move, so it could require constantly moving the glasses every time you shift your head or change angeles, and that would become burdensome in no time at all.
They say these are perfect for those with limited mobility, which is pretty accurate since you’d have to keep your head in pretty much the same position in order for them to work. It’s important to point out that these do not magnify or offer any other benefit other than changing the direction of your gaze.
While they may have identified a problem that some people experience, they have not done the job of proving that their product provides the solution. If the glasses were adjustable it would be a different story, but since they’re stationary you have just as much confinement with them on as you do without them. It would be nice if they made them so you can adjust the mirrors depending on the angle your head is in so that you can take whichever position you want, make a few adjustments and be good to go. For this reason we have to say that they don’t work in many instances.
With that being said there are times when they would work well, like if you have to look down because you’re doing some knitting, or reading a book. Basically it only flops for TV watching because it’s hard to lie completely on your back without the use of a pillow. If you’re bent on getting them here’s a single pair for $16.
Our Recommendation
There’s no way that these don’t work since it’s simply a pair of glasses frames with an angled mirror so that you see at a 90 degree angle. Those planning to use these for reading or for arts and crafts will likely be happy with the purchase, but those that want to watch TV with them will probably be disappointed that it doesn’t quite work for this purpose.

Okay, Now I think I have seen it all. I don't know why you would want these sunglasses that allow you to lay on your back and watch tv. When I lay on my back and watch tv in my bed, I can see the tv perfectly. Why in the world would I want sunglasses on my face. This can be so uncomfortable. I am sure some people can use these, but I think it is just silly.
Haha, I agree! This is one of the strangest inventions I have seen yet! Who would have thought that anyone would have thought of something like this. But I guess if you have problems with your neck and back remaining relaxed and comfortable while watching television while lying down, this concept is an attractive one. I think that it is good for those who really do not wish to prop themselves up even a little bit with a pillow, but it is not necessary in my life, so I certainly will not be bothering with this product.
I bought these for reading, not really for watching TV, but I found them okay for the TV. I know the review here says that some people may find them awkward, or not ideal or whatever, but I found they work great. BUt they do work better for reading. I'm not saying this is some wondrous invention, because I'm betting that most people really don't lie on their backs all that much when they do anything (well, maybe SOME things!) but I find myself wanting to lie flat when I read all the time, but can't because my arms get tired. These work great.
I don't know, I could imagine these being uncomfortable to wear (the top of my ears start getting irritated aft about 15 to 20 minutes of wearing sunglasses). For watching T.V., I would just rather prop myself up on pillows or lay slightly askew so I can see the T.V. from where I'm laying. That being said, I can definitely see how they can be beneficial for perhaps someone who is hospitalized and can't move very much due to injury. If that person is bedridden all day, these glasses would allow them to watch however they feel comfortable. I wouldn't buy them for everyday use for myself though.
This is kind of a really funny concept, and I would imagine would have been really useful for people who have some back issues and can't quite sit up comfortably to watch TV in bed. But I agree with this article that they would be a million times better if they had an adjustable feature. It seems a little bit of a rip off to sell these at such a high shipping price when they aren't really that useful or great. It seems even harder to watch TV without even a pillow under your head than to just prop yourself up with some nice pillows. I wouldn't try these ones. I don't think the price and risk of the shipping is worth it. But if they cam out with adjustable ones, I might consider it.
I would have found it quite humorous watching detectives use this to solve crimes. All jokes aside, the product would be so much better it the lens were adjustable. And really, I can't imagine anyone using it who did not have limited mobility.
My aunt purchased a pair of these when they first came out. It is possible that they have changed the structure of materials of this product but at that time it was a royal bust. The glasses themselves felt kind of cheap and would break easily while the mirrors themselves were not nearly strong enough to provide a clear view of anything. We tried to use them to watch tv but there was just no way of seeing anything very well. At $24 for two pairs ($14 of that being the shipping) there is no way you are getting your money's worth.
It seems like one of the most useless pairs of glasses you could potentially buy. If they don't work well at all what's the point of owning them in the first place? It's like your buying glasses with nothing special to get out of them. They look cool but if they don't work they are probably of not much use to you. Seeing the prism lenses don't adjust to the movement of your head, it can be extremely inconvenience when you're trying to enjoy a book.
