Do Family Bible Films Really Work?

Rate this post

This product, which is the Family Bible Films,  is a collection of animated biblical stories centered around famous people and stories of the Bible. They are colorful, full of exciting narration and are captivating. The question is will the content and concepts of the stories have any merit with the children?

Overview
It seems that almost every week there is a new video coming out of some delightful character to grab the attention of the youngsters and of course at the top of the popularity list are the Disney films. The Family Bible Film productions may not have the same glamorous budget to work with to create their christian videos based on stories of the bible, but they do appear to be well done and have good quality animation that is key to grabbing the youngster’s attention. For those that want to familiarize their children with the teachings of the Bible then this product seems to be an appealing resource. The initial offer is a Free DVD of the first two episodes, then following this you will receive a new episode every month or so, but this comes with a fee.

The Claim
The producers of this product claim that this product is an ideal way to capture the children’s attention to teach them the important lessons of the Bible. They claim that the young ones will gain a better understanding of the Bible and it brings the stories to life.

The Hype
There are few areas that the marketers must really zero in on to create the type of hype they need to make their product a success. They must appeal to two target markets which are the children, then the payers or buyers of the product. For the children the producers only need to follow in the footsteps

of the makers of any animation which includes making the finished product colorful audio appealing and a good story line. For the parent’s attention the hype has to focus on the fact that the product can make Bible teaching fun and appealing to the children which in turn makes it much easier for the parent who is intent on this type of religious teaching.

The Cost
Initially the first two series episode is free with only having to pay the shipping costs of $5. Then this automatically signs you up to receive a monthly new episode for the price of $18. which includes the shipping.

The Commitment
The biggest commitment will be on the buyer of this product to spark the children’s interest, then from that point the Family Bible Films should carry on in that department. You may also want to consider interacting with the kids with the downloadable learning guides that you will have access to. The kids will have to commit to following through with watching the videos, but how popular they are will be evident in how enthusiastic they are about next month’s episode arrival.

Evaluation
For the price of the $18. each month your youngster can access the videos from any device that will connect to the internet. Plus they are getting some opportunities for interaction through the lesson guides. When you take into account how all too often so many of the children’s videos today can be centered around violence this series is a welcoming change. Of course it depends on the religious beliefs of the families and whether these Family Bible Films are within keeping of those beliefs.

Final Family Bible Films Review

We are going to give a solid Try/Buy rating because the concept behind this product is a good one in that it is based on strong christian

values. It helps to encourage children to take an interest in the Bible in an interactive way. There are lots of Bible Trivia games on the market but they are usually more applicable for the older children whereas the animation that this product possesses is really intriguing for all age groups.

Our Recommendation
It is important to understand that you do have the option of cancelling any episode ten days prior to receiving it, but this does not cancel your entire membership. It is recommended that you read over the agreement carefully before sending away for your Free DVD of episode 1 and 2 as this activates your membership. As mentioned in previous children’s toy reviews when you can entice a child to interact it is stimulating for them just like we talked about in the Doodle Bright Review.

What do you think? Does Family Bible Films work or not?

  • Total rip off. I had no idea I was signed up for a $20 a month subscription. Ridiculous. I don’t even have a child to watch the films. I ordered a Christmas one for a little boy at church. Do not fall for their $1 episode. It’s a racket.

  • While I do love the films for our children, I was not aware this led into a monthly subscription. Very deceitful. I do not get a chance to check my email every day so when I get a text alert from my bank that almost $20 was taken out for something I did not approve of, I was not happy. I called customer service and explained I was not aware of this and was told they will not refund even if I return the DVD. We are financially hurting. Had I known a $1 video on Christnas was going to lead to deceit, I would not have gotten the video for my children. Poor customer service and poor handling. A company should not automatically deduct for a subscription just because you do not respond. That is an assumption. It would have been better if the company asked how you like their product and if you would like to subscribe. Very deceitful of a company, especially one that is Christian-based.

  • They are short of scamming people by offering a "free dvd" but if you do not read the fine print you will be stuck with a monthly subscription, that in itself is a very very deceptive practice, very unchristian and quiet shameful.

    • According to thr intial website fine print:
"IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE ANY INDIVIDUAL EPISODE, YOU'LL HAVE AT LEAST 10 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE APPLICABLE SHIPPING NOTICE TO CALL 800-701-8595 OR EMAIL US AND LET US KNOW THAT YOU DO NOT WANT THE EPISODE OFFERED. IF WE TIMELY RECEIVE SUCH CALL OR EMAIL, THAT EPISODE WILL NOT BE SHIPPED, AND YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED. YOU MAY"OPT-OUT" OF RECEIVING SHIPPING NOTICES AT YOUR DISCRETION; THEREAFTER, WE SHALL STOP SENDING YOU SUCH SHIPPING NOTICES UNLESS AND UNTIL YOU INSTRUCT US OTHERWISE IN WRITING. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT REFUSING AN INDIVIDUAL EPISODE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CANCELLATION OF YOUR ENTIRE SUBSCRIPTION. HOWEVER, YOU MAY CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION AT ANY TIME SIMPLY BY CALLING OR EMAILING US AND REQUESTING A CANCELLATION."
I thought about trying the product but could not find an email for them and the support page just goes to unrelated links. Ordering anything for $20 ($14.95 plus shipping) every 3 to 4 weeks sounds pretty costly to me. Also I am not sure how long a window they really give you to cancel or just decline a certain shipment. I think I am going to just buy my videos at full price to avoid getting stuck with such an expensive subscription. I hope the phone listed works for you. Otherwise you might want to contact your credit card company and tell them that you have no way to cancel the subscription. The credit card personnel should be able to help you.
