Overview
If you haven’t heard of Justin Bieber by now, you are probably wondering how he ended up on a toothbrush. But chances are you’re a big fan and are just wondering if this toothbrush is going to get your teeth cleaned, or if it’s mostly just a way for Justin to get some more royalty checks. When it comes to an item like this, you have to take a lot of things into consideration, like who is the manufacturer behind it, and in this case they seem to have chosen an unknown company, rather than going with something more well known and recognizable, like Oral-B.
The Claim
The makers of the Justin Bieber singing toothbrush claim that it uses soft bristles made by DuPont, that it plays songs for two minutes which is the recommended time by dentists, and that it has multiple buttons depending on whether you’re using it in the morning or at night. This makes it so you don’t have to hear the same song back to back, and you can mix it up throughout the day. They also say that you can buy additional replacement heads, so you can keep the base and keep singing along without having to toss it and get a whole new unit.
The Hype
Justin Bieber has hype? No way! Actually, this product only exists because of the hype surrounding Justin and his music. He’s got such a broad and wide ranging fan base, and people go absolutely gaga for him. This basically leads to people buying anything with his likeness emblazoned on it. It only makes sense that this would strike the world of dentistry in the form of an electronic toothbrush.
The Cost
This is where the Justin Bieber singing toothbrush shines. It can be had for less than $10
The Commitment
Hopefully you’re already brushing your teeth multiples times a day anyway, so this won’t cramp your style much. In fact, it can actually promote better oral hygiene by making sure you keep at it for the recommended time of two minutes. You’re supposed to spend roughly 30 seconds on each quadrant of your mouth, upper right, lower right, upper left, and lower left, and most people fall short of that if left to their own internal clock.
Evaluation
The Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush gets mostly positive reviews, with a few complains here and there on the quality of the toothbrush portion of the package. Most people say that there’s no problem with the music and that it’s easy to hear and sing along with, but the brush leaves something to be desired. Since you’re supposed to replace your brush every 3 months, they’ve made it so you can buy replaceable heads, but it might be best just to get it for the music, and leave the brushing to more established toothbrushes.
If you’re not used to timing your brushing sessions you’ll probably feel like 2 minutes lasts a long time. By playing a song this effectively reduces how long it seems to take, and makes for a nice morning and nightly routine. Just be sure not to brush too hard. One common complaint of dentists is that people brush their teeth too hard. Use soft bristles and a light grip when you brush. Go for a longer term lighter session than a shorter terms one where you’re really going to town on your teeth.
It seems it would be better if they teamed up with a manufacturer like Oral B or Reach to make
the actual brush and just attached their sound box to it. As a novelty item the Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush is a winner, and most fans of the boy wonder will appreciate it, either as a gift or buying it for themselves. However, you might want to keep a spare brush handy so that you can properly clean your teeth, as there have been reports of the bristles coming loose. The singing part works hands down, and since the songs last 2 minutes you know how long to brush. Our Recommendation
If you’re a Belieber then you’ve got to grab this, if for nothing else than the novelty factor. If you don’t end up using it to actually brush with, it’s easy enough to keep it handy in the bathroom for the music and timer feature alone. However, if you’re looking for a top quality dental instrument, or a really good electronic toothbrush, you’re best advised to keep looking, and just listen to your MP3 player while brushing.

You know what? I think this might just be the solution to a problem I've been having ever since my daughter turned 7. She's 9 years old now and even though she should know better, she refuses to brush more than 30 seconds and I've been fighting about it with her more times than I can remember. We've already spent more than six thousand dollars on her dental works and it's time that she got her act straight. Justin Bieber singing toothbrush may be a long shot, but it's worth a try.
