People expect the same level of performance from their foot products as they do from their food products. This creates a bit of hype, and gives them the edge over other competing foot files.
The Cost
The cost of a MicroPlane foot file is moderate, with models being priced right around $20. When you compare this to the cost of getting a pedicure, you can see that it’s a much more economical way to go.
The Commitment
They say that this works with the first use, so you won’t have to repeatedly go to town on your feet. Others are reporting that you don’t have to put a lot of elbow grease into it, and even light pressure works. So compared to your current method of filing your feet, this should actually represent less commitment on your part. Of course it’s more commitment than getting a pedicure, but that’s not really an apples to apples comparison. What’s cool about Microplane is that they’re not really in the foot care business. They make all sorts of tools and utensils, and what they did here was apply their grating technology that they put into graters for the kitchen to their line of foot files. So what you end up getting is a file that doesn’t just attack your skin with reckless abandon, but grates off your dead skin, leaving your soft, healthy skin alone.
If you’ve ever gone too far with an ordinary foot file, you’ll know the sort of pain you can experience by taking off more skin from your foot than you intended. It can take a while for those cuts and areas to heal, causing you pain with each step you take and even making you walk with a limp in severe instances. So getting something that doesn’t harm your good skin is important, as the feet can be more sensitive than they appear.
They also make an egg shaped file, similar to the Ped Egg. It’s really up to you which style you go with, if you want the ergonomic design of the egg shape, or if you want a study handle to hold onto to give you leverage, and also extend your reach. A case can be made for either style so it just a matter of personal preference.

I would pay much more for this product, if I knew it would be this great. In five minutes my feet look like someone's that haven't had this skin problem.
I just wish they could use my feet to sell there product.......I have hade this problem all my life, but until I used the micro plane file.... Trust and believe me when I say this nothing has worked on my hands or feet.....
I have both the Microplane foot file and one of the zesters. The zester works great (use it all the time for lemons), but unfortunately I wasn't as pleased with this foot file. Strangely, I'm not really sure why this doesn't lead to better results. Here's the thing: It absolutely does grate off a lot of dead tissue from your heels. It is easy to use and seeing all that dead skin come off does feel kind of satisfying. The problem is that it doesn't seem to leave my feet any softer. The old fashioned process of soaking my feet and then using a pumice stone still remains the only way for me to get soft feet. I tried following the Microplane filing session up with lots of cream, but it still didn't help. I'm honestly dumbfounded - why does this remove lots of skin, but still not lead to the softness I get from a traditional pumice stone?
That's interesting that it works for something other than what it's designed for. It's like they mislabeled it and told you can use it for your body instead of food. Freudian slip much? So if I want my feet to feel softer I should just use a pumice stone instead of this skin slicing device? I will definitely keep that in mind. I don't like products that cause more pain than what they're worth.
Josh, trust and believe there is no pain it really works, just make sure your feet are really dry. If I could show you how this works I would..please try it Josh before you judge it....thank you !
I actually picked up a Microplane foot file yesterday as my current one needed to be replaced. The foot file works great. It takes off hard dried skin in minutes, then you turn it over to use the polish on the other side to make your feet smooth and soft. This works great on ruff elbows too. I use my foot file every evening after bathing and my feet stay soft. I only paid three dollars for mine at my local Walmart. They are very affordable and can do the work for you that expensive spas charge. Every house should have one.
