Having dry skin on your feet is a common occurrence. It can be uncomfortable, and sometimes even painful. However, there are quick and easy remedies available. O’Keeffe’s Healthy Foot Cream could be the solution for you.

What Causes Foot Skin To Dry Out?

Dry foot skin can be caused by common everyday factors. Some of these factors are:

  • A lack of moisture – due to fewer oil glands than anywhere else on the body, dry, cracked skin is very common on the heel and sole of your foot.
  • Irritation – irritation from standing too long or wearing shoes that do not fit properly can cause your feet to dry out, and become calloused or cracked.
  • Aging – as we age, our skin loses the ability to hold water and becomes thinner. This can result in dry, cracked skin.

There are also some medical conditions that can cause dry skin on your feet. Some of these are:

  • Diabetes – uncontrolled diabetes can result in damage to the peripheral nerves; this is called neuropathy. Neuropathy can influence the nerves that control oil and moisture in your feet, and cause them to become dry and cracked.
  • Athlete’s Foot – Athlete’s Foot is a fungal infection that causes an uncomfortable, sometimes painful, rash between the toes and on the bottom of the foot.
  • Eczema – Eczema can occur anywhere on your body. It is a condition that causes skin inflammation. The most common symptoms are dry, crusty, itchy patches of skin.

How Do You Use O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet Foot Cream?

O’Keeffe’s suggests “for best results” that you start with a small amount because this is all you will need. This is a case of “a little goes a long way”. Just rub a little into the affected area of your foot, and you will quickly see and feel the results. O’Keeffe’s also advises that you may feel a mild stinging if your skin is severely dry, but this is normal. However, if it persists, you should discontinue use.

What Is In O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet Foot Cream That Makes It Work?

There are a number of ingredients in O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet Cream. Some are familiar, and some not so familiar. Although no specific scientific explanation is provided, it could be a combination of the following that makes it work so well:

  • A high level of glycerin, which can bind moisture to skin.
  • Paraffin wax and dimethicone, which coat and provide an effective barrier on the skin.
  • Allantoin, which is a skin-soothing ingredient.

What Can You Expect From Using O’Keeffe’s Healthy Feet Foot Cream?

O’Keeffe’s guarantee would seem to support the theory of why it works. Their website states “guaranteed relief for extremely dry, cracked feet”:

  • Instantly boosts moisture levels (glycerin)
  • Creates a protective layer (paraffin wax and dimethicone)
  • Helps prevent moisture loss (also paraffin wax and dimethicone)

The focus of their claims seems to be on creating a protective barrier on your skin in order to lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated, so the fact that is also has a soothing ingredient (allantoin) can be considered either “a given” or just a nice bonus.

The Promise

As stated on the okeeffes.ca website, their promise is “guaranteed results or your money back”. If you are not completely satisfied with their product, they will refund 100% of your purchase price. They ask that you keep the product, and call the telephone number provided on their website, where you have the option of replacing the product with something else or getting your money back.

What Is The Story Behind O’Keeffe’s?

On their website, okeeffes.ca, you will find a section on “Our Story”. It is actually kind of sweet. In a nutshell, more than 25 years ago there was a lady named Tara O’Keeffe, whose father (Bill) was a rancher, and a diabetic. Given the type of work Bill did and the effects diabetes can have, his hands were always dry and cracked, and Tara couldn’t find anything that helped.

As it happened, Tara was a pharmacist, and she decided to try to make something herself. So, she brought some ingredients home and, right in her own kitchen, created what is today O’Keeffe’s Working Hands. Eventually, people heard about Tara’s creation and wanted to buy it. Today O’Keeffe’s products are used by people in many professions, as well as people with skin conditions such as Eczema.

Who Makes O’Keeffe’s Products Today?

Today the O’Keeffe’s brand is owned by The Gorilla Glue Company. It is a family-owned and operated business, based in Cincinnati, and prides itself on its family atmosphere and quality products.

  • I really LOVE your foot cream!!! I have been using this product for around a month. My feet were in bad shape, but now they are wonderful. I would recommend this to everyone, as it really DOES WORK!!! I would like to be able to get it in the 7 ounce jar!!!

  • I am a 79-year-old male with type 2 diabetes. My brother died of it and my aunt lost both feet. About 5 years ago I started to have dry skin and some fissures on my feet and of course calluses. My dermatologist recommended two different prescription creams, neither terribly effective. I take good care of my feet, carefully clean and lightly defoliate them. My wife saw O'Keffe's at the pharmacist, the defoliating version, and bought me a tube and I have been using it or the new non-defoliating version for 4 years with regularity. Did it completely cure my scally feet, of course not, I am 79 and my feet suffer from age. I am still working and stay on my feet most of the day. However I highly recommend either version of this product, I alternate them. My feet are vastly better, skin is far better, calluses there but smoother, some cracks but not nearly as severe. I am very pleased with the outcome and delighted to recommend this product. Like most things everyone might not find it effective but for me is just fine and far less expensive than most. They make my life noticeably better.

  • I have had problems with my dry, cracked feet. This is the first thing I have found that actually works. I am 60 years old, and my feet haven't been this good since I was in high school. I use it every night before bed, and it's nothing short of miraculous!

  • This product is meh. I don’t understand the hype. I purchased this from Walmart due to the reviews. Not impressed

  • OKeeffes has fixed my feet ! My nail tec commented on how much my feet had improved and asked what I was doing and I was happy to share info on my discovery. I had tried so many products with no good results but I'm good now . Try it---it's very inexpensive and well worth the effort.

  • I was so worried that this would not work after reading a bunch of reviews on several different sites stating that it doesn’t work. Like others, I don’t care for the watery texture. However after using it 1-2 times a day for several weeks now, I have smooth feet and my calluses are going away. I started ot with thick, cracked skin that always looked gray and dirty, and my feet resembled hooves more than anything. Now my feet actually look normal. I don’t know how this works but I will continue to use it. I have tried a ton of different creams and lotions and this is the only thing that has ever actually worked for me. I even tried yeast medication thinking that it was yeast. I am really happy with this product.

  • I will not give it a 'star' rating as of yet. I purchased okeefes last summer from a stand in the garden center. Used it a couple times and didn't keep at it. Recently I have been fishing in freezing water wearing wading boots for hours at a time, then putting on sandals - February. My feet were like 50 year old thick cracked paint on an abandoned house. The fissures in my heals were starting to bleed. And it was getting painful to walk. I decided to try this okeefes foot cream I had laying around. I didn't wash or scrub my feet with a stone or anything as I should have. Just showered, applied the cream and put on a good pair of cushioned socks. It's day three and the difference is incredible. Still a ways to go and I should break out the stone or whatever when I can sit outside if it ever gets warm enough. But for doing nothing other than scrubbing my feet in the shower and applying this cream afterward, I must say it works. The bonus is that my hands are a lot softer too from rubbing it into the feet then just rubbing my hands together with the residual product. The stuff works. You can't expect miracles after months or years of neglect. So those who say it doesn't work after a few days, how long did it take for your feet to get this way? I was looking for an alternative product or something cheap when I came across this site. I thought it 'expensive', but I'm finding out it is less expensive than many. So I'll stick with it.

  • I used this on my armpits because it is difficult for me to shave it. One armpit turned out fine. The hair came off smoothly. But, the other one burned a lot and the hair did not come off as well. There is now a giant rash on the worse armpit. I do not recommend this product to people with sensitive skin.

    • Molly, why would you use a foot cream for hard problem skin on your armpits? It is no surprise it would be a problem and your review isn't really relevant.
