Not impressed for the money spent on these- husband got me a whole set for Christmas and they do not seal- I'm emailing the company for a refund!
I used to like these OXO cannisters. But I bought a new set at the container store and they do not seal. the bugs get into my flour, cornmeal and sugar. I keep having to throw away staples.
Do these work? They sure as heck do! While it made me sick to pay so much for them, I have to say in all honesty that they are worth every penny. They work precisely as described giving an air-tight seal, and are so simple to operate. Just push the button down on the lid and, voila!, they're sealed. Push the button again to lift the lid off. As both my husband and I are having difficulty with twist-lids anymore, these cannisters have been a god-send. We got them initially to store the ingredients we use with our new Magic Bullet... walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, protein powder, chia seeds, goji berries, etc etc. We love that they are see-thru so we can see at-a-glance what we're running low on and need to replace.
My husband, (who usually couldn't care less about kitchen products), really was thrilled with these. When I told him I'd like to buy more to store our sugar, flour, etc. in them, he said, 'do it!' When I told him I was hesitant because of the price, he said, 'for the quality and convenience of these things, buy them, they're worth it.' So, although I'm a bargain shopper, there are some things worth paying full price for... these cannisters qualify.
I wash the cannisters by hand, but only wipe the lids with a damp dishcloth. I don't want water ruining the seal. So far, so good. Buy them with confidence. You won't be disappointed.
My mom bought these because our old apartment had an ant problem, and no matter how many ant cups we put out, they still didn't go away. So we started to just put all of our food in the fridge, but it couldn't hold that much. So then we bought a set of these containers from Bed Bath and Beyond. They worked really well, stacked nicely, and are pretty good looking. The ants had gotten into sealed containers and food packaging. They were relentless, but they couldn't get into these air-tight containers. Plus, these were easy to use. You just press the button in the middle and you're done. I would definitely recommend these containers.
Just looking at the picture I didn't notice, but after watching the video I'm really impressed with the simplicity and the attractiveness of the design. I owned something similar in the past, but the air pump on top was way too small for it to work efficiently and the build quality was rather shoddy. I think you get what you pay for in life and although it's a little on the expensive side, it may just be a great addition to my kitchen.
I have owned three of these for about a year. They are really great when they work. Over the course of a year two of three have failed. Something breaks inside that results in a failure of the the locking mechanism. I wanted to like these, now they are just a hassle.
