The Hype
The hype around Noom really is that you are not going to be given a one size fits all diet and left on your own to make it work. Once you have gone through the set up process which is not difficult at all you are going to get a customized plan. This plan is a step through to get you to the goal you are going to have to set for yourself.
The Cost
The cost for Noom is going to depend on which package you opt into. The monthly package costs $59. Per month, the 2 month package is $49.50 and the four month package goes for $32.25 each month
The Commitment
Noom sounds like a great program but this is not a do no work weight loss program. In fact, you have quite a bit of work ahead of you. But the big difference is with Noom you are not going to be alone. With the use of the app you are going to have to track what you eat and your activity.
Evaluation
All too often weight loss programs all end up being the same. So we wanted to know what there was about Noom that was going to make it unique. It would appear that it is with the approach in that it focuses on creating behavioral changes and interaction with the efforts on educating yourself with weight loss. There will be quizzes to be completed to test your knowledge of what they have encouraged you to learn more about. Not being alone in your efforts is also key to success and Noom is capitalizing on this. Via the app participants can engage with others in the program by chatting in real time with groups or individuals. There are plenty of other boosts in the program to create the enthusiasm and encourage participants to continue.
Final Noom Review
The big question is what proof is there that Noom works. There are a lot of success stories but also some that didn’t get what they wanted from Noom. This is understandable as weight is a very personalized thing. What works for some may not work for another. But, in support of the program a research analysis was done in 2016 where the data from the Noom app was analysed using 35,921 participants. The outcome was a 77.9 reported weight loss. Overall we are prepared to give Noom a thumbs up.
Our Recommendation

I had good success with Noom. I only had about 10 pounds to lose, so the combination of logging my food and really thinking about eating, rather than just mindlessly snacking worked for me. I already worked out 4 times a week, so that wasn’t an issue. Bottom line, if you follow the program and use your brain, plus exercise, you’ll lose the weight.
