Smooth Secret says it can help you by removing chest wrinkles while you’re sleeping. It’s a silicon sheet that you place on your chest before you go to bed, but does it work, and if so, how?
Overview
If you’re self-conscious about your chest and want to get rid of the wrinkles there you do have quite a few options, the only problem is that many of them are not very good. There are anti-aging creams that say they help with fine lines and wrinkles, but these often do not provide the results you want, and since the chest is a large surface area you can go through several jars of them before realizing it’s not working.
The Claim
The main claim of Smooth Secret is that you’ll get results after just one night of use. That’s a pretty impressive claim because wrinkles take time to develop and often take time to make any progress on treating them. It’s set up so that you don’t have to use any creams and lotions, and it reusable so you can use it any night that you notice the wrinkles have started to form again.
The Hype
You likely saw the ad for this on TV, which follows the same basic pattern of many TV products. First they exaggerate the problem, in this case a woman looks totally fed up with her chest wrinkles. Then they present the solution, in this case a silicon pad that you wear at night. Flash some before and after pictures, have the spokesperson explain what it does, show the product in use, add some testimonials and you’re all set.
The Cost
The total price of Smooth Secret will come to $36 and will get you 2 of the chest pads and 2 facial pads. They say you can give the other one away to a friend if you want because this is supposed to provide results after just one use, and is also reusable if needed. They have a 30 day money back guarantee in place, which would only be good on the $20 purchase price and not the $16 in shipping. This is getting pretty close to being an offer that isn’t too consumer friendly because if you find this does not provide the results you’ve still shelled out nearly $20 after you pay to return it.
The Commitment
Since this works overnight while you sleep there isn’t a lot of commitment other than putting it on at bedtime. Comparing that to using other wrinkle removers it’s far less involvement on your part, and any product that is designed to work while you’re sleeping is going to have a big draw to it because you don’t have to do much at all.
Evaluation
They say that they’re using medical grade silicon, and that it acts to increase the amount of blood flow in the skin so that it gets natural hydration and affects the collagen levels so your skin looks more smooth and radiant. That’s pretty much all they say about Smooth Secret in regards to how it works, but it would be nice if someone would explain just exactly how a piece of silicon is going to accomplish that, no matter what grade it is.
Final Smooth Secret Review
Smooth Secret is getting our Risky Try rating, since there isn’t a lot in the way of proof that this works, and the way the price is set up you stand to risk a large part of the purchase price in order to try it out. Even if every single customer returned the product the makers of Smooth Secret would still be making a profit by sending out pieces of plastic for $16 and apologizing that it didn’t work. And that’s just on those people that bother to return it and pay the extra postage to ship it back. We’re always leery about a setup like that.
Our Recommendation
The décolletage is an area that does draw attention, and if it’s full of wrinkles it will make you look older than you really are. It’s definitely a problem you want to treat, but this might not be the best way to go about it. You can try a combination of anti-aging products on the area, ones that get good reviews and have shown that they’re proven to work in at least some instances.
There are many medical studies done on silicone treatment for scarring. The info is there, all you need is google. Within the reports of those studies, as in any study done , they explain how silicone sheeting works. It provides a protected environment, increases oxygen and collagen production as well as modulating immune system responses. look at nih.gov for details. Silicone pads do the same thing for wrinkled skin that is increasing collagen production along with the other more detailed biochemical responses.
My question is are the wrinkle reducing effects permanent, or temporary?
I was a nurse for 30 years and a Nurse Practitioner for 20 of those years. We were taught to read and evaluate research reports as part of our education because this is how nursing and medical journal articles are set up. It is how new research is reported, and reading the journals that publish these article is how nursing and medical professional keep there knowledge current.
In addition I have used medical silicone sheeting on the scars from 4 joint replacement surgeries I have had. The sheets worked to reduce inflammation and flatten raised areas of scars within a couple weeks. I believe over the long term the 3 months I used the sheets has made the scars smaller and less noticeable.
So if you are interested go to nih.gov and type is search for silicone sheeting.

I don’t know…sounds a little “too good to be true” and I can see why you’ve labeled it as “risky.” I personally wouldn’t try it, simply for the fact that shipping is ridiculous and I wouldn’t want to take the chance of losing $16 if it doesn’t live up to my expectations. I also think $36 is pretty steep. That said, it’s a wonderful concept. Not that I have chest wrinkles yet, but at over 40, it won’t be long!
