Serious Skincare is a cosmetics brand developed by Lesa Stock and promoted by model Jennifer Flavin-Stallone, wife of movie star Sylvester Stallone. The brand is most commonly known for offering a varied line of anti-aging products designed to target wrinkles, fine lines, sagging and dull skin. But how well does it really work when put to the test?
Overview
The brand’s continued rapid expansion can be easily seen by taking a look at the massive product index on its website, which is also very helpful since it lists the ingredients of most of its products. While the huge number of lines offered by this brand can make deciding what to buy a challenging endeavor, there are some impressive items that are worthy of note and serious consideration. Below you will find a closer look at some of their most popular items.
Serious Skincare also offers a vast number of everyday beauty products such as lip gloss, lipstick, perfumes, and acne control treatments, which was the product that first gave the brand its foothold in the cosmetics industry. These are mainly available for purchase through the company’s website, and through the Home Shopping Network.
The Claims
In true keeping with its start as a brand that at first focused on developing acne control solutions, one of the best items that Serious Skincare offers is its Clearz-It Acne Treatment. With the right mix of benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, among other ingredients, Clearz-It claims to clear up existing blackheads and acne blemishes and prevent new acne breakouts.
This serum promises to reduce wrinkles by delivering nanofied retinol, which allows for improved penetration and gentler release. In addition to retinol A-Force XR also contains Vitamin C, green tea, anti-irritants, antioxidants, and castor oil. Although this product has proven effective for several users, it may not be the best option for those with oily skin, as the castor oil may have undesired results such as breakouts or excessive shine.
The Hype
The brand is regularly featured on the Home Shopping Network (HSN), and on the Shopping Channel where Jennifer Flavin-Stallone will appear to gain credibility and promote the sale of its beauty products. According to cosmetic industry experts, they have created a great deal of buzz for their brand by making some pretty lofty claims that its line of goods often cannot fully live up to. However, a great deal of Internet and television promotions has led to a customer following for some of their items.
The Cost
Given the exorbitant costs of anti-aging and other cosmetic products, the prices of Serious Skincare are not prohibitively expensive. They offer such a huge variety that their prices do make up a fairly large range. You can find items on their website for as little as $10 for an acid-free eye firming gel to $90 for a moisturizer without sunscreen. Here are the prices for the products we cover: Clearz-It Acne Treatment sells for $19 for two ounces, A-Force XR Retinol Serum Concentrate costs $38 for one once, while the Seramins Free Radical Quencher Multivitamin Facial Serum goes for $40.
Evaluation
People swear by Clearz-It and consider it an essential beauty tool. Another not-to-be-missed product comes from their age-defying line, the retinol serum A-Force XR. Retinol is a less irritating form of Vitamin A-derived retinoic acid, which is held as a miracle nutrient by dermatologist for its many skin benefits.
The Seramins Free Radical Quencher Multivitamin Facial Serum is also a strongly performing product, which delivers on its claim to be packed with vitamins and antioxidants. It is non-greasy, absorbs quickly, and users notice tangible and visible smoothness with prolonged use. However, it is important to note that recent research demonstrates that dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), an ingredient in Seramins Free Radical Quencher Multivitamin Facial Serum may be cause for concern.
According to skin experts DMAE may result in positive results in the short-term, but the immediate benefits of this drug may not outweigh the long-term negative effects of its use, which include a potential decrease and even a halt in cell growth. Although the amount of DMAE in the serum is not substantial the red flags it sets off is enough to take a cautious approach when considering this product.
Also be very aware that several of their products are considered gimmicky, their lip plumper has been reported as causing irritation in several customers, and their peels are considered well below average. There are also packaging issues, since several of their moisturizers are packed in jars, meaning that key ingredients degrade over time.
Final Serious Skincare Review
How seriously should you consider buying Serious Skincare? It really depends on the specific product that you are considering getting. Some of their products provide an excellent value for an effective mix of quality ingredients, while others offer a very average product while asking for an above average price. Overall though they’re earning our Solid Try rating, as they’ve shown to be effective in many cases, just be picky about which product you go with.
Be sure that you use the information at their website to determine whether a product is safe for you to use and that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients it contains.
Our Recommendation
As with most beauty products you will have to make sure to take their claims with a grain of salt, consider the ingredients in the product that interests you, and keep in mind, while reading reviews for a specific product, that what may work for one person’s skin may be irritating to yours if they have a different skin type.
I couldn’t wait to get my Serious Sknicare Insta-Tox. I applied it exactly the way the directions read and literally seconds of being on my skin it started to burn. I don’t have sensitive skin. I also realise that everything isn’t for everyone. So I chalked it up to “not for me”, no big deal. I emailed to return it and recieved a RMA # to return stated there would be a $5 restocking fee on top of the return on my dime(which Im ok with), but the restocking fee not so much. Their site says 100% refund, which is not true and how do you restock an open and used product? …live and learn.
Gracias
I started using their Continuously Clear products when I had acne and super oily skin, breakouts–and it was a game changer for me. It has the right combo of ingredients that works really fast. Even now in my 60’s I get breakouts and I use the Clearing Spot gel a couple of days and it clears up quickly. Now I’ve started their retinol products and they are great. There is a good level of retinol in them because they are very yellow, yet they are not irritating. I really like the marine pads too–they are so refreshing and tingly. I think for the price this is a really great and effective line. I want to try the Reverse Lift next.
Evine sells it now and does have flex payments like HSN
Reverse a lift is my favorite I got everything w/the purple lid I love when I can pull my eye browsvup they stay up. I have heavy lids and now I can wear different colors of eye-shadow and everyone can see it. I also bought it fro. HSN and I could do budget pay. But now I can’t order the kits because thrrebis no more budget pay and that sucks i bought alot of stuff. But now no more budget pay on there website so I have to find a new skin treatment and I really wish they didn’t leave HSN😣😥
Why on earth did you ever discontinue the serious skin care hydrapixel cream? Please tell me you are going to start providing that again
I use to order so much from Evine,Something got wrongly mixed up with them using my credit card. THEY kept telling me they clrared it up but never got things done.Evine is horrible to customers as many have found out Jackie bennett l.
This over-rated over-the-counter product Is really a flimflam gimmick. If Ms Flavin stallone had half as much talent as her famous husband, she would find something better to do like bake cookies for the cake sale at church.
Great stuff can feel my age spots disappearing
Does the firm a face temporary instant wrinkle remover work better than a snake venom prouduct?
Worrid about potential toxins and parabans in creams. Also, so many carcinogenic produtcts in the line. Also, Never does the HSN talk about animal free cruelty
Does serious skin care allow testing on animals in the states and also in other countries? Please do not allow testing in other countries
I am worried about chemicals asboring into my skin.
New age…. new insight
Thank you!!
How much retinol do the retinol pads have in them. Do you med a moisturizer with it.
How much retinol does the retinol pads have in them. Also fo you need a moisturizer after use at night.
Thanks
i used her products ,yes i’m a guy, but i think it works wonder, not a pretty boy but aging is my concern, using product for 5 yrs ,i think i look very young for 63 yrs of age, moisturizer works wonder, can’t remember the item name but gives you pulse and tone on skin, first time i used it i made it go to full force, but now once a week i still use it
I bought the entire C line. I love every one of the products that I tried. The set included facial cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, 2 serums, cleansing pads and a deep cleaning mask duo. My skin felt very moisturized and was clearer from some age spots and freckles. Wrinkles also diminished. I plan to buy the products again.
I received serious skin care hair removal item as a christmas gift. You take the hand tool spread some gel on your area, like my face and use the tool I have used it for a month. You are suppose to use it daily for 4 to 6 weeks and its suppose to remove the facial hair for good. So far I do not have much faith in it. It also came with a tube of hair removal that you are suppose to put on, after three minutes wipe off. I have use this product three or four time and not one hair has ever come off. The old Nair at least in the past many years when I tried it did remove a little when I used it on my legs. If the product works as well the the hand tool I do not have any faith. I would return it if it had not been a christmas present. And I am so sorry that my sister paid the high price from HSN that she did because it does not work. And after reading the reviews on their website you would not buy it. Too bad HSN hypes to so well because to many women will believe it works. And after trying that product I would not ever try anything else. Because it shows you they will do anything to sell the product. If it just work a little and not like at all would be a little better.
I love the reverse lift eye cream! Lifts my 62 yr old eyes and makes me look younger. I can tell a big difference when I use a different product. I also love creamerum. Makes skin feel super soft.
I love their products.
I do not feel any of the products I’ve tried to work as well as she says. The face cleansers seem to dry out my skin. I wont be purchasing any more.
I have always taken good care of my skin and using great products. But, lately, my old skin care line hasn’t worked well so, I tried this line. I am very happy with my results. My lines and wrinkles have diminished around my eyes and mouth. I have gotten so many compliments on my skin and my age! Live this line!
I was given Serious Skincare creamerun beauty treatment as part of my Christmas gift and after two weeks I noticed my face was clearer from age spots. My skin felt smoother and small wrinkle disappeared. But when I read what does this cream do on the tube, it didn’t describe what it does. In other words, they need to have on the tube what this product corrects. But I give it two thumbs up anyway.
I was in my early 20s when I used their product for acne. I used it for a year staight and I credit this company with a total change in my skin. I am 42 now and I have never had a acne break out since using their product. Don’t get me wrong I have had a pimple or a black head since but no more big painful pimples. I get a little pimple that goes away in a few days. I just wish i had this product earlier so i wouldnt have scars. I cannot be more thankful to serious skin care and my daughters grandmother for giving me this treatment. Best product I ever used for acne. Way better then the prescriptions I was prescribed at the time.
Ive been using the retina a line from serious skin care. My face looksgood but I feel the product is not strong enough. I wanted my face to peel and thiis makes my face dry.So Im on yhe fence with serious skincare products
This is not a review of your product (Serious Skincare). My career takes me to Europe’s major fashion cities; therefore, I stock up on skin care products when there.
I have a problem with your borrowing words from a foreign language and using said words incorrectly.
Your staff cosistently uses the word DÉCOLLETÉ’, when the noun should be DECOLLETAGE.
“Décolleté” is an adjective. It literally means ‘decollared’.
I speak fluent French; as I am sure, so do many of your clients. Hmmmm, please try not to insult the French language by butchering its tongue.
Thank you.
hi, i am sorry about the mayo clinic mix up, see felicia rose labs why is my expensive vit c killing me and in the article you will be directed to a link in that article that will show the dangers of vit c. stay safe and stay away from products loaded with toxic chemicals that will not help but harm.
I have used this product for over 20 years and would reccomend it to anyone! I have learned to stick with the basic products that I like–the A line cleanser and 4M moisturizer! My next favorite is the reverse lift Line! I always get compliments on my skin using these product!
I am using the serious skin care line for about 2 months. so far it is great. I have not had any problems with it.
please dont use serious skin care, their day c cream with spf first five ingredients cause cancer and tumors, worse she has ascorbyl palmitate, when used in the day, kills skin cells on a massive scale…see mayo clinic report on ascorbyl palmitate a form of vit. c. fda hopeflly soon, will be pulling spf products containing this hazerdous ingredient. also, she has vit. c and copper in it, they cannot be used together because they cancell each other out…worthless!!! they know about this but dont care, just another chemical filled company that puts profit before peoples lives. check your products ingredients on ewg. you will be shocked!!!!!
I’ve heard some great things about their acne treatment products and since none of the over the counter treatments have done any good for me so far, I might give serious skincare a try before I visit a doctor. I’d much rather avoid the doctor though, for one I hate hospitals but more importantly healthcare costs a lot of money. Hopefully I’ll get my acne treated on the cheap.
