The Schticky is pitched by Vince Offer, the same guy that made it big with the Slap Chop and ShamWow. It’s basically a lint brush, but it promises that you can use it over and over again just by rinsing it off when it gets dirty. This would definitely be a welcome addition to any home that is prone to spills, either from pets or from kids. But does it work, or is this just a cleverly delivered as seen on TV product?
Overview
There’s no doubt that the instance to use a Schticky pops up all of the time. Lint alone would make it worth it, but if you’ve got pets you were probably purchasing this in your head about 10 seconds into the infomercial before you thought it best to do some research first. The Schticky seems like it would be just the thing to have in a lot of different situations, but only if it does its job and stays sticky after many uses, and after many washes.
The Claim
They show the Schticky picking up all sorts of things, like cereal, hair off of carpet, spills in the pantry, and debris off of carpeted stairs. They claim that it’s much better to have around than a simple lint roller, but that you can use it in place of one for similar situations, like getting lint and dandruff off of your shirt.
They also say that you’ll save $100 a year by not having to replace your regular lint roller that’s made from sticky paper. That’s pretty outlandish, and few people probably spend anything near that amount per year. They might have claimed that you could save $50 a year, which would be twice as much as their total package costs, and be a little more feasible.
The Hype
The hype comes from Vince Offer, the guy could pitch himself out of a steel cage. He makes it look like a product you just can’t live without, and has come up with lots of different examples of how you might use it. He also shows just how sticky it is by tossing it against a wall and having it stick there, as well as washing it off and showing that it still stays sticky.
The Cost
If you want the whole kit, it’s $27 and you’ll get the normal sized one, the mini sized one, and the big one. It’s the big one that got our attention, especially when they go over the different surfaces without having to change tools. If you’re going to get this, you might as well go all out and get the big Schticky too so you can try it out on bigger messes and get more done in less time.
The Commitment
The Schticky should actually be a time saver, since in theory you’ll be able to quickly clean up all sorts of things around your home without having to change from a broom, to a vacuum, to a lint-roller. Just remember to use it in the moment, because it can be easy to forget that you bought it, and revert to your usual way of cleaning up the messes in your life.
Evaluation
You’d think that this would work, and that the material would be available that actually does get slippery when when and sticky when dry. However, the overriding reports are that this just doesn’t clean off as easily as is shown, and when it does dry it doesn’t retain its stickiness
Most people have reported that the Schticky gets dirty too quickly, takes too long to clean, and doesn’t keep its stick after you clean it. These are pretty major offenses, and definitely detracts from the Schticky actually doing what it says it does, and working like advertised.
Final Schticky Review
The consensus is that this works, but it doesn’t continue to work after just a few uses. This would make sense that it would work in the infomercial, because they would simply use a fresh Schticky for each take. However, the claim that it is washable and reusable is apparently invalid, and therefore makes it a no-go as far a purchase goes, and it gets a thumbs down from us.
Alternative Products to the Schticky
If you want a product like the Schticky, but one that actually works well, go with the Sticky Buddy.
I bought a schticky because I have dogs & it seemed like a good idea to get rid of the hair they shed but I have only used it a few times & now I have thrown it in the bin as its no longer sticky….bloody waste of money don’t buy
I bought the regular package over a year ago to remove cat hair and have been using it regularly ever since. it loses stickiness if used too much and not cleaned or dried with a cloth. I’ve followed the directions exactly, warm water and if its staying on just a tiny bit of soap makes it slip off just rinsing. the stickiness always returns and I have stuck mine to the wall for about 15 minutes. took the handle off and it stayed about 30. the pocket sized one isn’t so great but for shirt lint and minor touches its been fine.
It works amazingly the first 2 or 3 times. Then it becomes really hard to wash off and barely has any stickiness. The Sticky Buddy was the same way, except it might have been even worse. I have bought both and they are both completely worthless now.
I bought the Schticky for cat hair. I have tried all types of rollers to use on my furniture to remove the hair totally and nothing ever works, but the Schticky works great for me. I am still using mine and it is still sticky. I haven’t tried to use it on the floors so I don’t know if that makes it unsticky, but mine is still working great. I love it!
I agree w/ Brittney that the Schticky works great on smaller areas, but larger areas take too long b/c you keep having to wash it off. Also, for people who don’t like the Schticky, i wonder how many are using it correctly… meaning you do need to use warm water w/ a little soap. I realize the commercial makes it look like a wonder tool that you can just wave around the house and it will get everything clean, but obviously that’s not the case.
I actually purchased the sticky an love it. It’s great for smaller areas for sure. If you’re relying on cleaning it entire floor then maybe you should stick to the broom or vacuum. Duh. But I love it on the furniture. And my ceiling fans. We have kids and they enjoy using it as well. I think the product is GREAT. U just need to be smarter than the product. Buy it. 🙂
It doesn’t stick but it sure does suck!
the shticky sucks major stay far far away do not waste your hard earned money
I bought stichky! I was so amazed first. I thought finally a product that works as advertised!
My happiness lasted till the first wash. Cold water won’t remove dirt or takes forever.
After10 rolls / 10 wash, it doesn’t stick at all.
Another SCAM.
To get the lifetime warranty you hve to send it back (cost almost as much as the product) and plus you have to send more money for shipping a new to you.
DO NOT BUY IT!!!! IT DOESN’T SHTICK IT SUCKS!!!!
Not worth it!!! First use is great as far as sticking goes…but you must wash and dry frequently if it’s a large area. After a few washes, all the stickiness is gone and it’s completely useless! Don’t waste your money.
From watching the commercial, it obviously gets covered too quickly leaving no sticky area available, thus having the user wash the thing after each Roll (when cleaning up loads of dirt or cereal, etc) plus.. washing it off into the Sink will eventually CLOG the sonk (!) costing More money in the long run.
Then returning to the mess to take another swipe and go was-off again , and doing this til the mess is cleaned-up!
Better and EASIER to just SWEEP the [edited] into a dust pan and be DONEZ with it. !
What a tool for Idiots who dont think things thru. !
There are some things that people dont know about how,to bring the stickyness back to the sticky..the oild that are in dog abd cat hairs can cause the sticky to become not sticky anymore….all you have to do is wash it with some plamolive and the sticky comes right back.
I bought a Schtichy too. It worked for for a minute when we first opened the box to try it out. Then after a couple of minutes of use it stops sticking.
We washed it like they do on the ad but the Schticky just wasn’t sticking.
Sad part was after returning the Schticky back to the company, we were never refunded our money.
That is pretty much what we have been hearing.
It’s a scam…its not really sticky…its slightly tacky…a lint roller fresh is better. The thing does NOT stick against a wall as it does on the TV commercial…its basically worthless.
I just got a schticky and it works amazingly.. i love it! 🙂 and it got here in about 1 1/2- 2 weeks, super awesome!!
i bought this 2 month ago and it really is a piece of S$%^ (it’s american).it’s my first time buying something after watching a tv ad and it will also be my last. so don’t buy it because it’s crap.
Thanks so much for this review. I just subscribed to your feed.
I’m one of the ones who has a pet and was mentaly ordering the Schticky 10 seconds into the commercial – but was holding off, as I’m so sceptical about ordering anything from a TV ad. And until I got to this site, all the online so-called ‘reviews’ really were all about the guy, Vince Offer, who apparently has some kind of following (sheeesh, wassup with THAT?!) So thanks for helping me hang on to a few hard earned dollars and keeping me from possibly ending up on a few junk-mail lists as well.
awesome, thanks for the review.
I was looking at getting one of these. As always they make them look great on TV, but in real life judging by what you’ve said they’re not that good.
I’ll save my hard earned money and continue with my vacuum 🙂
