A lot of skincare products come and go but then there are some that appear as though they are here to stay. One of these may be Cindy Crawford’s skincare line Meaningful Beauty. It didn’t take long for it to take off when it first hit the market in 2005. So where is it at today?
What Is Meaningful Beauty?
It is a line of skincare products that actress Cindy Crawford created with Jean-Louis Sebagh who is a French cosmetic doctor. As a plastic surgeon he has been recognized for his anti-aging surgeries and the use of botox. The product line was developed to be sold through direct response marketing for the company Guthy-Renker.
The Product Line
There are several products within this line. They can be purchased separately or they can be bought as a package such as the Introductory Deluxe System which includes:
- Skin softening cleanser
- Youth Activated Melon Serum
- Anti Aging Day Cream
- Age Recovery Night Cream
- Lifting Eye Cream
Each of these are marketed as if they each provide a specific purpose. You can also choose a 7 product introductory system.
The Ingredients
At the time that Meaningful Beauty first came out on the market, there was not the knowledge or attention being paid to ingredients in skincare products that may not be good for the skin. Many women and some men are bcoming more proactive as to what they are using on their skin.
It is one thing to know what the ingredients are but another to know whether they can be harmful or not. Quite often there is controversy over what is harmful and what isn’t, so that can add to the confusion.
An example
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)
This is a common ingredient in many skin care products. In recent years the issue has been raised that it can be detrimental to the skin.
This ingredient is found in the MB Skin Softening cleanser and is listed as the 5th ingredient.
Phenoxyethanol
This is another ingredient that some experts are saying can be harmful. It too is an ingredient in the MB Skin Softener Cleanser and is listed as the last ingredient.
So What Does All This Mean?
Those that are pro organic skincare are going to be quick to point out what are believed to be potentially harmful ingredients. However, there are some things that have to be kept in mind about this.
- What scientific proof is there to back up the adversity of the ingredient on the skin or health?
- In small amounts is it considered to be safe to use for skincare?
So, when you are doing research into skin care product ingredients, or hear negative stories about the ingredients they contain, then you need to do your own full research to come to your own conclusion.
Some may say that because it is approved to be on the open market then it must be okay. That may not always be the case.
The Secret Ingredient
Every product that is sold successfully usually has a unique selling proposition. For skincare products the hype usually revolves around one specific ingredient.
For the MB products line keeping in mind these are individual products they each have their own ingredients. As an example the Youth Activating Melon Serum is promoted as having “encapsulated melon leaf stem cells”. Sounds impressive and especially since one of the latest buzz words is “stem cells”.
Before getting all hyped up about this though it means doing some research into whether stem cells in skincare products can really penetrate the skin and be effective. The results of the research may be surprising.
Do The MB Line Of Products Work?
What most are going to care about is whether the Meaningful Beauty products deliver on the promises that it makes.
Cindy Crawford
Youtube
Cindy Crawford is the face for this skincare line and there is no doubt that she is still very beautiful at the age of 53 as she was born in 1966. So is it her Meaningful Beauty Line of skincare products that are keeping her youthful?
The Reality:
Youtube
There is plenty of information on the internet that indicates that Cindy does not just rely on her skincare line to maintain her beauty. She has stated that she has relied on botox as well as other beauty treatments to maintain her looks.
Youtube
Not everyone can afford botox or surgical procedures for anti aging, nor does everyone want them. So this raises the question as to whether using the MB line of products is helpful and basically better than nothing. What it all indicates is that the products are not miracle products. That doesn’t mean that they are not beneficial.
The Results:
There are a lot of mixed reviews as to whether this line of skincare products is all that it is cracked up to be. However, it is still going strong after many years, but this raises another question?
- Is it still going strong because it is proven to be a very efficient skincare line? Or…
- Is it still going strong because the company is still involved in heavy marketing?
Looking At The Reviews:
To get somewhat of an accurate picture it means looking at the feedback of those real customers who have tried the product for themselves and having nothing to gain by offering a review whether it is negative or positive.
The 5 pkg introductory product system out of 283 reviews received a 4 star rating. When looking at the individual products they vary in the ratings with some of the products being like more than others.
The Cost
Amazon
The price is a big factor when it comes to skincare. You don’t know whether you are paying for the name. Or whether you are buying into the hype or whether it is based on the quality of the product.
The 5 piece travel kit can be bought on Amazon for $44.85. BUT keep in mind these are the travel size so they are very small. So for example, if you were going to buy the regular size of the Serum for one ounce you would pay about $39. This is not a cheap product nor is it super expensive either.
The Take-Away
Youtube
We have looked at the MB product line realistically. Which means pointing out that there may be some negative aspects to. However, there is no skincare product on the market that can turn back the clock when it comes to aging. No matter how much they may allude to this.
The key with a product line such as this is to consider it as a preventative. Keeping the skin clean, moisturized and protected from the sun are the true secrets to skincare that works. All of the products within this skincare line are capable of doing this. So over all the products have a lot of good quality ingredients in them, and it is reasonably price.
Iv been using the eye cream for 3 days. It was given to me . My deep wrinkles are gone !!!! I’m 41 a smoker and in love with meaningful beauty already
I have to say I’ve been trying to meaningful beauty products for about two weeks now and I’ve never had any wrinkles and the craziest thing is is that now I’ll cross my four head I have some that are visible so it’s like I did this product bring them out ? I’m pissed .
I’m 31 years old, I don’t smoke and I don’t drink much so I got this just as a preventative measure. I had been using expensive drug store creams like l’oreal which were okay, but I wanted to try this. I honestly noticed my skin was really soft, smooth and healthier feeling after. I then noticed the lines around my eyes were less noticeable. I used the product sparingly. I continued my usual skincare routine of washing, exfoliating and using toner so I really only use the cleanser that comes in the kit once in a while. I don’t know the longterm changes my skin might have or wrinkles that are prevented, but as of now, having used it for about two months, my skin feels soft, my fine lines aren’t as defined and it’s caused no acne or dry skin for me. I would recommend this to others, but just tell them to figure out what products work well with their skin. It’s not for everyone, but everyone has different skin!
What work have you had done? How did you find a good person to do it?
Hi everyone. You’d have to take my word for it but I’ve worked in aesthetics and plastic surgery for years. In support of some other comments here, I guarantee that Cindy Crawford’s face does not come solely from “Meaningful Beauty” as the infomercials imply. Gravity pulls face muscles downward as you turn 30, 40, 50. Collagen loss takes its toll on EVERY middle-aged woman. No serum or lotion lifts muscles and plumps cheeks to that degree. Cindy’s had fillers & botox at a bare minimum. I’d bet $$ she’s had a face lift. I can’t claim that for sure only because I could be s….u…ed.
I resent the claims these celebs make to sell products. Just because they can get away with it doesn’t make it morally right. People buy the products and end up disappointed, even depressed thinking “Why didn’t I get the same results as the women in the infomercial?” Because those women have been to plastic surgeons or aesthetic dermatologists, that’s why. Unkind to give false hopes.
We are getting so used to seeing these pretty middle-aged women thanks to all the things they can do now, that we forget what a middle-aged woman REALLY looks like without professional alterations. I’ve had work done myself after wasting $hundreds on misleading claims from these products.
Sure, they can give you a “glow” or make skin “smoother” (their favorite words). That’s easy. You can buy that for $15 at the drug store. In reality most of us need help with wrinkles and sagging which you will never get from a bottle unless it’s an instant face lift that lasts one evening, and I don’t know if those work. What if it deactivates at 9:00 p.m….Yyyyikes!
Totally agree
Melaleuca is NOT organic. I used to order it, so did my friend and we both cancelled because of that and because their vitamins failed a purity test performed by an independent company that tests vitamins. I called and complained and don’t think anything was done.
I have been using Meaningful Beauty now for several years and love it, particularly the serums. I’ve had tons of compliments from friends and strangers who cannot believe I look so much younger than my actual age. These products make my face and neck silky smooth, and never burn the eyes or cause skin breakouts. I temporarily stopped using MB products for awhile, and what a mistake. No other products I tried took care of the fine lines or smoothness of the skin, and my neck was starting to get lines. So I am back to MB products, and already notice the difference.
I’d suggest that you purchase MB products from Ebay, not directly from the MB website, as it is a “sign up and buy 30 day supply, then autopay for 90 day supply thereafter”. Better to purchase the products you want to try from Ebay, whether 90 or 30 day, so you are not obligated with a pay plan. You can buy entire kits or individual products on Ebay. Be sure though you’re not getting the older products when the MB packaging were all white bottles and tubes. Check the current packaging on the MB website to make sure you’re getting the latest product. They changed their packaging in 2016 or 2017 to mostly clear bottles with ‘MB’ on the top, and their tubes are still white but have purple print with MB at the top.
O JUST ORDERED THIS GUY SAY EYE CREAMS THE BEST! WELL I HAVE PAID MORE MONEY FOR EYE CREAM THEN THE WHOLE LOT COST..I THINK THE SERUMS DO A TEMPERARY JOB BUT WHO CARES EVERYTHING WOMEN DO TO FACE IS TEMPOARY TILL YOU WASH OFF! THERE IS NO FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH IN A BOTTLE OUT THERE BUT IF EVEN 3 THINGS WORK O WILL BE HAPPY! DON’T BUY TATCHA STUFF NOT WORTH THE HIGH PRICE!! MADE MY FACE WORSE! MOUTH GOT SO WRINKLED UP O QUIT! WELL WHAT ABOUT SNAIL PRODUCTS THY WORK? IT DON’T MATTER I’M 58 AND HATING IT..SUN..SMOKING AND POP IN GONNA CHANGE SOME STUFF IF THAT DON’T WORK…BOTOX!!!
This product didn’t work well on my skin. I noticed after using dark circles prouduct I got extremely darker. I immediately stop. I’m not satisfied with this product I’m going back to clinque.
I’ve been using Meaningful Beauty for a number of years. I’m 76 and no one ever guesses my age. I look maybe 50 so am extremely pleased with the products. I’m in the fitness industry so eat healthy and workout regularly as well.
I was given MB as a gift almost 2 years ago and i was excited because i always wanted it since i had seen the commercials. I am 35 and my skin is oily and can break out sometimes. I find these products even out my skin and smooth out the bumps and make it look fresh and bright and it seems to keep my skin from breaking out. It feels good and i have not had any negative side effects. I am going to need more soon but due to the negative customer service reviews i am hesitant to buy directly from the company. My favorite products are the creme de serum, lifting eye cream and decollete neck cream. Great results.
You are exactly right I used it for a couple of months and didn’t notice anything. It’s a waste of money and time
First of all, I am a product junky. I have spent so much money and have tried so many anti-aging products. I am now 44 yrs old and finally decided to try Meaningful Beauty. I wish I would have tried it sooner, but I really thought it was a gimmick. I am happy to say, I was wrong. The serum is AWESOME. I could see almost an immediate improvement in my undereye skin, which has always been my problem area. And to top it off, it is so AFFORDABLE!
I L💗VE MEANINGFUL BEAUTY!!!!!
I think that the facial serum Cindy Crawford uses is just another infomercial scam. If it looks to good to be true it probably is. Save your money
I used Meaningful Beauty for two or three years. I did like the way my skin looked and I got compliments although my skin has small pores anyway and I still get compliments on its softness. I quit mainly because I had way too many of the products I wasn’t using and had enough to continue with the ones I was using for a few months. I haven’t used it in about 10 years (66 now) and am considering beginning again. Shopping for face products is a hassle for me. My skin is sensitive and I am not finding something that works. Also my cheeks are getting red which they never did unless wind or sun burned. Don’t know if it is a reaction to the products I am trying, but I surely didn’t have red when I used Meaningful Beauty.
Had a very similar experience with their customer service. I think I was sent to a call center in the Philippines, and I had to keep telling the rep to LEAVE THE SCRIPT and simply cancel my future orders. Because I know some places require the rep to hear a refusal a specific number of times or contexts, I also rephrased my request multiple times. I told her I was at work and short on time, only to be met with 10-15 minutes of her repeating my name in every sentence and offering me an assortment of revised delivery options and a 20% discount. Only when I got mad and said “I will literally never do business with this company again as a result of this phone call and your refusal to process my request” did the rep supposedly process the cancelation. This is the hallmark of horrible customer service, and I will also be watching my bank statements for the next few months!
I generally like the products – I have very sensitive and dry skin, and my skin is in much better shape now. Like others, I don’t entirely trust the chemicals in the products (I could feel the synthetic stuff right away in the Creme de Serum – I don’t like how that feels, but my skin sadly seems to love it! For folks getting breakouts, it’s the silicone you are most likely reacting to…). My wrinkles have definitely decreased, and I am less blotchy. I might order some of the products elsewhere in the future, but will never do direct business with Meaningful Beauty again.
I have been using Meaningful Beauty Products for over 5 years and have been enjoying them and the compliments I constantly receive.
As an author of a Children’s book, it’s nice to look younger than I am, than facing youthful eyes upon me with a prune-like complexion, as I read to them.
I am very grateful for Cindy Crawford’s generous nature and her humanity in sharing her secret with all of us who are now benefiting from these products.
Thank you, Cindy!
another scam sucking celebrity fake out. reminds me of nightmare proactive crazies cult who would not let you cancel anything. you know its botox and surgery.
I would give a 0 based on Customer Service but it is not available. I originally tried the product but found it was too strong for my skin so I cancelled the skincare & vitamin package. That was almost 5 months ago and they still attempt to take out the 2 separate charges every month – ]even though I speak with a Manager over and over to have it reversed/refunded each month. Tonight I just saw ANOTHER CHARGE of $54.94 for the skin care kit, the second charge should show any day now. What started out as a product that was to strong and no negative feelings has turned into a battle with a company that constantly apologizes but continues to allow fraudulent charges to be applied to my account monthly. I told them tonight that I have had enough and was going to post my review and contact the better business bureau. Now that I have looked at their reviews and find that this is a ongoing complaint, I have a feeling I will be watching my bank statement for months to come.
Used product for over a year, so no changes. My skin still looked tired. Just because a celebrity advertises the product it doesn’t mean it works. Just canceled my subscription.
Healthy eating, exercise, low stress will help tremendous with slowing the aging process. But, I believe the biggest reason Cindy looks the way she does now is Botox and fillers. She always had high cheek bones, but come on you don’t get higher cheek bones than what you had in your twenties by eating healthy! That’s Juvaderm voluma in those cheeks!
Does it work on dark skin
DON’T BUY!!!! the whole business set up is a CREDIT CARD SCAM/FRAUD.Their system is so unethical!!! I’m surprised Crawford is behind this scam sales model. If the products were good they wouldn’t need to sell this “tricky”way.
After reading the ingredients, since I don’t use anything with mineral oil on my skin and other products I’m allergic to, I tried to cancel after half an hour and it was a total nightmare. Apparently they can charge your card but if you call right after your account is not set up for 24hrs so it can’t be cancelled. The account get set up when it is shipped and it makes the whole return refund a nightmare time consuming process. I even called the credit card, put a merchant block for future transactions and if transaction not refunded within 7-10 bus days then I can dispute the first transaction.AVOID the TROUBLE and DON”T BUY B4 researching.
Sorry…didn’t finish…if you read the labels of store bought products i.e.: Laundry detergent & other household products as well their allergy product.& baby safe laundry laundry, the all have formaldehyde (sometimes using a.different name) or ingredients use in antifreeze. Go.to Melaleuca’s website & decide for yourself. You can try to order directly from them or they might refer to to a rep in your area. Amazon does sell it but it’s much more expensive. We love it. My husband’s allergies have stopped; no flaky skin or.itching from our skin. Their family size.shampoo last.a.very long time.as.well as the laundry detergent, etc: Ultra concentrated. Also its child safe. If they get into the cabinet and drink the product(s) it will not harm them. Same goes for pets. Ok, I think I cover it. Sorry this is a long comment but I feel I need to mention it because I only use natural products. Email me if you have further questions at byuwitch@yahoo.com. Make sure to use your comment section so I know what its about before I open it. Have a blessed day ?
I use Melaleuca cleanser, & daily moisturizer. It’s all natural with no harmful chemicals. I also use all their household products secondary to family allergies. AMAZING!!! The only thing is you have to commit to buying $55-$65 dollars worth of products each month for a.rep or they send you a auto package with products you’ve use & some.new products. But they will never over charge for this. I find I need to order certain products each.month even.though we.are now a two person household. I’ll never go.back to store.bout brands. It you read the lables of
Been using for two months now and absolutely love it. I have started to get crows feet and light wrinkles on forehead and wierd looking sagging on neck They are gone after using Meaningful Beauty and I only use once a day. I use an anti acne mild treatment at night since I do have combination beak out prone skin. I have had no problems with breakouts. So don’t be afraid to customize the treatment if you know what your skin will do. After 53 years I do know how my skin will react
Finally somebody mentioned plastics work!!! Genes, healthy food and lifestyle, bla-bla. I agree it makes a difference, but aging is a normal process that occurs no matter what, unless you are Dorian Grey or something:) Some people age faster, some not. Also, we can’t forget the fact that all the show biz people making money with their look. It is their job- look young, pretty, stylish. and they will pay a lot and do a lot to keep looking great. The bottom line, maybe this product is good, but Cindy Crawford is def not the reason I will start using it. That’s why I’d rather see the feedback from the real people… So far not impressive
Great name Susan Baldwin…great age as well!
As a nurse and skin care professional I can. Tell you ms Crawford has had a lot of facial dermalogical and surgery treatments. She had a nasal reconstruction when young and has since had numerous fillers, tightening and other treatments. It is really great work… but let’s be honest… her eyes look much different from her youthful beauty.
I’d love to know her plastic surgeon!
My mother got this product it did not work for her so she gave it to me I am 30 years old it did not work for me so I gave it to a friend who was 50 it did not work for her so she give it to another friend around the same age it made all of us get dry flaky skin
I’ve been using Meaningful Beauty for about 2 years now and I absolutely love it! I’ve been reading other reviews and there’s a lot of negativity. This stuff worked miracles on my skin. I was drinking and smoking for a long time prior to using these products and my face and neck looked just plain awful. I quit drinking and went about trying to better myself, my face being at the top of the list. I wish I had taken a picture before to compare my skin now. It only took about two months or less before my sister, who saw how bad my skin looked before, was staring at my face and asked me what I was using because my skin looked incredible. She didn’t know that I was trying and already addicted to Meaningful Beauty at the time. She was floored and couldn’t believe the difference. She was just the first of more compliments. I have always used a whole regimen: cleanser, either wrinkle smoothing caps or ultra lifting & filling serum, eye firming serum, glowing serum, anti-aging day cream, lifting eye cream, decollete cream, creme de serum, anti-aging night cream, and the deep cleansing masque & glycolic peel when needed or once a week. I hope other people will be encouraged by my review and give it a try as well. Meaningful Beauty really have my face and neck another chance.
As a long time Proactiv user without a breakout for years, I thought it was time to try something just for aging skin, and at 55 I definitely am aging:). After using this product as instructed for 2 weeks, my neck and face are now riddled with acne. Although the products make my skin feel soft, something in them is clogging my pores, not minimizing them. I will be returning the product this week and hope I don’t get the run around which, judging by all of these reviews, seems inevitable. What a disappointment.
All I know is that when this product first came out there were not many other companies using natural ingredients, which was one of the biggest reasons I started using it. I tried many other products and my face would breakout fromthem. I started using Meaningful Beauty and my skin had no reaction to it. I continued using the product and after some time the deep line in my forehead were almost gone! I have been using Meaningful Beauty for years and get compliments all the time about how young I look (I’m 50 now) and I believe the product has been a huge contributor. In fact, I decided I wanted to go organic just recently and the products are just not as good. I’m now going back to Meaningful Beauty.
I’m not sure about others, but I am very conscious of chemicals that I put on my body. Anything that claims to be anti-aging will for sure, have many chemicals in it. The fact that they don’t reveal exactly what’s in this product is a big deal for me. Secrecy leads me to believe that they are hiding something and when it comes to products I am going to use on my face, I certainly don’t wish to be fooled. That’s red flag number one. Red flag number 2 – they don’t mention anything about individual genes and how each person is different. Cindy Crawford and all supermodels typically have great genes. I don’t think that the way she looks is comparable to the majority of 50 year old women as she has lived much of her life as a celebrity with access to various high end luxury products that have heightened her already gene friendly appearance.
I’m trying the product for the first time, I live in the Caribbean and I have dark skin. Does it work on dark skin, which has a tendency to be oily because of our diet and the sun.
There are many reasons why Cindy Crawford still looks great at 45 and let’s be honest money and time are two of the biggest reasons why, but I know, we can’t discount the fact that she must eat healthy, stay fit, and take care of herself. Sorry, I had to bitch there a little bit because I’m nowhere near as hot as her. Try as I may I will never look like her, but I’m sure as hell gonna try!
